Domus management buys tile distributor out of administration in pre-pack deal
Joint administrators from Interpath sold the business and assets of Domus Tiles Limited to a company owned by its management team on 27 October, with all 112 staff transferring to the purchaser.

The management team of tile and engineered flooring distributor Domus has bought the business out of administration, after joint administrators from Interpath sold its assets to a newly formed company on 27 October 2026.
Interpath said Chris Pole and Will Wright were appointed joint administrators of Domus Tiles Limited on that date and immediately sold the business and assets to Domus Group London Limited in a pre-pack transaction. It described the purchaser as a company owned and led by Domus's existing management team.
All 112 Domus employees transfer to the purchaser under the deal, the administrators said. The company operates six showrooms, in Battersea, Clerkenwell, Birmingham, Glasgow, Manchester and West Molesey, and Interpath described it as a distributor of premium tile and flooring products.
Jon Newey, CEO of Domus, said: "For our founders and senior leadership team, who have been part of the Domus story for over 25 years, this marks an important moment and an opportunity to shape the next chapter of the business."
Two accounts of the deal
The Tile Association, which carried the Domus announcement, described the transaction as a management-led buyout and said Domus, Melrose and CECO had been unaffected by the Headlam sale process and continued to operate as normal. The administrators' own notice, by contrast, records that Domus Tiles Limited itself entered administration before the sale was completed.
Companies House lists Domus Tiles Limited, company number 00812533, with the status Active. The company was incorporated on 13 July 1964 and is registered at Headlam's Gorsey Lane address in Coleshill, Birmingham.
The new owner
Companies House records show Domus Group London Limited, company number 17495107, was incorporated on 1 October 2026. Its registered office is 23-25 Great Sutton Street, London EC1V 0DN, and its registered nature of business is retail sale of hardware, paints and glass in specialised stores.
Erik Holten Castenskiold was appointed a director on 1 October 2026 and is registered as a person with significant control. Jonathan Mark Newey and Anthony Marcus Wrinch were appointed directors on 15 October 2026 and are also registered as persons with significant control, with Newey recorded as holding more than 25% but not more than 50% of the shares.
Newey said the change of ownership would not alter the company's approach. "While our ownership has changed, our commitment remains the same: to support architects, designers and our wider client community with personal service, carefully selected products and the expertise built over many years," he said.
Domus said it would continue to invest in its collections, showrooms and digital experience to make it easier to specify and source tiles and engineered flooring. Newey also said the company recognised increasing commercial pressures on projects and would focus on balancing design, quality and value.
The Headlam background
Domus was a wholly-owned subsidiary of Headlam Group. Headlam's website says Will Wright, Chris Pole and Ryan Grant were appointed joint administrators of Headlam Group Plc and HFD Ltd on 8 September 2026, and that the affairs, business and property of the companies are being managed by the administrators.
According to The Tile Association, Headlam's Thatcham distribution centre, operational assets, inventory and principal intellectual property, along with the Crucial Trading and Concept Flooring brands, were sold to Likewise Group for £14.9m plus VAT.
The Domus sale was one of two pre-pack disposals of Headlam subsidiaries announced by Interpath. The business and assets of Melrose Interiors Limited were sold to the Jain family group of UK distribution companies, with 35 employees transferring. The Spectrum business unit of Melrose was excluded from that sale and its 19 employees were made redundant.
| Outcome | Employees |
|---|---|
| Domus staff transferring to Domus Group London Limited | 112 |
| Melrose staff transferring to Jain family group | 35 |
| Melrose Spectrum staff made redundant | 19 |
Chris Pole, joint administrator to Domus Tiles Limited and Melrose Interiors Limited, said the transactions secure the jobs of 147 employees across the two companies.
Headlam's business directory lists Domus Group Derwent Works in Birmingham, Domus Battersea, Domus Clerkenwell and Domus West 1 in London, and a Domus head office in Surrey.
